In 2014 Andytown coffee began its mission to bring specialty coffee roasting to the Outer Sunset. Bound by the limitations of a 600 foot space, the team had to get creative to accommodate the coffee making, roasting, and baking functions. This meant using lofts, pulleys, and packing lots of equipment into a tight space.
Since then, Andytown has grown and expanded with multiple locations and its own roasting lab. The original headquarters is now expanding as well. With the acquisition of the neighboring unit, the space will nearly double in size, allowing the baristas a little more elbow room.
The “A” becomes a symbolic form paying homage to the historical reference of the brand – Andytown leisure center in Belfast.
Though the expanded space will allow Andytown more functionality and efficiency, it is imperative that this location’s rich history is not lost. Andytown Lawton’s new space will provide a window into its history of being a small, neighborhood coffee shop where visitors can come and enjoy delicious coffee and pastries while seeing all the action before their very eyes.
